PRODUCT SOURCING OVER THE INTERNET
Around the globe, manufacturers and exporters of top quality products and merchandise are looking for someone to relieve them open up new markets for their products or improve their methods of distribution in the countries where they are already established.
To find these trading firms you must commence “sourcing” for them and some of the best places to view are at “Electronic Trading Networks” or B2B Marketplaces. Electronic Trading Networks are Internet web sites or “Web Portals” where International buyers and sellers come together to exchange their products and locate potential joint venture partners. Unlike B2C (Business to Commerce or Business to Consumer) web sites, B2B sites are sort of a “middleman” that brings buyers and sellers together.
THE BUYING AND SELLING OF E-COMMERCE
There are hundreds if not thousands of these B2B sites on the Internet, some of which only cater to world trade and international traders. These types of B2B sites are easy to residence. At first glance they may resemble search engines similar to Yahoo, Northern Light, Lycos and others. But upon closer inspection of their content you will find that these Web Portals are geared towards product selection and promotion.
They all perform the same function of bringing buyers and sellers together but some are only designed to promote the specific products that are manufactured or exported from their own country or region (such as ChinaPages.com and TaiwanTrade.com). Mostly all of the B2B marketplaces have a worldwide focus to allow manufacturers to trade with Importers no matter where in the world they may live.
Business – to – Business (B2B) commerce is exploding on the Internet and certain studies have found it to have 20 times the volume of B2C commerce. It is estimated that by the year 2003 there will be 10,000 digital marketplaces or vertical exchanges.
According to a research by the Gartner Group B2B electronic commerce reached USD $145 billion in 1999 and by the year 2004 it is projected to arrive USD $7.29 trillion. Online marketplaces are making it easier for companies to transfer information, make financial transactions and build communities that are more industry focused and specific.
International traders are benefiting greatly from the use of these B2B marketplaces that closely mirror the real world markets that they are accustomed to using. Cometotrade.com has 49,966 members at its web station with a estimated 100,226 trade listings in 750 categories and subcategories. TaiwanTrade.com, which is another large B2B portal, has thousands of members registered at its web site.
B2B MARKETPLACES ORGANIZED FOR WORLD TRADE
Importers that are interested in contacting potential manufacturers and suppliers that have quality products to export should inaugurate their search at the various B2B Portal Sites specifically geared toward international trade. Whereas any good Internet search engine will reveal the URL or address of foreign firms you must know where to look and the exact key words to use. With so many companies online one of the problems you will face using a B2C search engine is finding the factual company with which to do business.
Because B2B marketplace oriented web sites post nothing but offers from manufacturers, exporters and importers this problem has virtually been eliminated for you. If you are an Importer of sports products you can post an offer to buy and have hundreds of manufacturers and suppliers of sports related items send you their offers by email. If you are a manufacturer looking for a distributor or agent in a particular country you can post an offer at any of these portal sites and receive inquiries from qualified businesses.
BUSINESS TIPS TO GET YOU STARTED
To get started, you must first become a member and register at the web status you are attempting to use. This is a simple step because registration is free and unless you register you won’t be able to exhaust any of the services that are available (such as free postings of seize and sell offers, free company listings, email notification of trade leads, etc.).
After you have successfully registered you must login with a User name and a Password. B2B marketplaces for international traders offer a full compliment of services that are essential for any kind of import – export transactions to take place. You will rep that nearly all of these web sites offer some type of search capabilities (to find the specific industry you are marketing to or from), free postings so buyers and sellers can place their offers or demands online, receive email notification of trade leads tailored for your market, and various other services. Some B2B web sites allow their registered members to place a web page at their site that provides complete company information about their business and the type of products that have to sell or purchase.
Using these B2B web portals can get rather involved so it is a good opinion to have in mind exactly what you need before you inaugurate your search. You need your products SIC code and industry classification before you open to effect any contacts. But if you are only requesting a catalog you may be able to forgo this information in the beginning.

It’s that time of year when anticipating the Easter Bunny reminds us of the dust bunnies that have taken up residence during the winter. As the weather gets warmer, the urge to purge, cleanse, and de-clutter gets stronger. Here are a few things you might want to consider adding to your annual spring-cleaning regimen to take it a step beyond window opening and mattress turning.
1. Fridge Maintenance
Over the course of a year, spills happen, usually during meal prep when you’re not particularly inclined to close and scrub. As a result, it can accept pretty sticky between cracks and under shelves and drawers. Take a few minutes to pull out removable shelves and drawers and wash them with soap and water. While they’re drying, wipe down the inside of the refrigerator. Don’t forget to move the fridge out from the wall a little to sweep underneath it. Dusting or vacuuming the fridge’s coils has benefits beyond cleanliness; Super coils mean a refrigerators use less energy, which means lower bills for you.
2. Pantry Purge
Take stock of your pantry. Look through the just-in-case foods that have been at the back since your first apartment. Toss out any expired canned or dry goods to de-clutter your kitchen and prevent potential gastrointestinal unpleasantness.
3. Hands-on
There are vertical surfaces in your home that get a lot of hand traffic and build up a lot of grease. Don’t wait for the build up to show. Clean switch plates and the walls around them, and knobs and the door around them with a grease-cutting cleaner.
4. Dirty Drawers
Everyone has innerwear that has seen better days. All those threadbare socks and elastic-less undies are doing is taking up proper estate in your unmentionables drawer. Get rid of single socks, socks with holes, and underwear with dreadful elastic. At the very least, it will make trips to the Laundromat less embarrassing.
5. Lost Linens
While you’re routing through bedroom drawers, sort out the linens you wouldn’t want company seeing. Yellowing sheets that are beyond bleaching, jersey sheets with holes in them, and uncomfortably lumpy pillows are all candidates for the junk pile.
6. Mailstrom
Now would be a gracious time to diminish the mound of mail you have to wade through to bag to your living room. Go through the junk drawer, mail cubby, or pile on the entryway table and recycle the junk mail, useless coupons, and catalogs that make up 70 percent of it. File important receipts, bills, and tax documents comprising the rest.
7. Inundated Inbox
When you’ve earned an email break from the on-your-feet spring cleaning, take a look at your inbox. Delete any spam or ragged unread mailing-list emails. Accomplish a tagging or filing system for important business or personal emails and archive them. Keep in your inbox only unique emails that require a response or action on your part.
8. Totable Tunes
When’s the last time you listened to music on an actual CD? With computer and portable media player hard drive capacities getting larger every day, you can now fit a wallfull of CDs in something the size of a deck of cards. Because there’s something very satisfying about the tactile experience of jewel cases and album art, you’ll probably want to hold a few of your favorites. Take a weekend to rip the rest of your CD collection to your computer. The process is a bit tedious, but you can watch movies or clean while you do it, and in the end you’ll have freed up a noteworthy amount of shelf space.
9. Fix It or Forget It
Ferret out any broken appliances or tools that can’t be repaired. You don’t really need that busted hair dryer or that rusted out lawn mower. Some appliances have special disposal requirements. Check with your local municipal sanitation department for guidelines. Other appliances can be recycled. Check out ARCA’s website for more information.
10. Seasonal Shuffle
It’s been a few months since you shoved the results of the annual holiday hassle into some boxes and forgotten about them. Now is a good time to go through seasonal decorations and themed gifts with a relatively objective eye. It’s perfectly delicate to donate or repurpose gifts from people who are unlikely to visit in the future and expect to see the darling giant elf they gave you waving at them from your front lawn. If you find it hard to part with holiday trinkets from your childhood that haven’t been displayed in a decade, condense them into art of some sort. Try making a shadow box, ornament pyramid, wreath, or stocking holder. They make wonderfully thoughtful gifts for family members. Or, if you decide to preserve the art for yourself, it is now condensed for easy storage and requires less time to put up during the holidays.
