The True First Contact – Part 1

Earth – 0 hours:
This is Jennifer Anderson from network news. We interrupt this broadcast for a special news bulletin. This morning at 10:17 AM eastern time, a starship appeared today on the Washington mall in Washington, D.C. I repeat, a starship has appeared today on the Washington mall. This is not a hoax. This is the real things folks. The balloon has gone up on a new era. This is a day like no other in the history of the human race. Today we learned that we are not alone in the universe. We have the anecdote directly from Washington, from our contain reporter, Mark Atkinson.

“Thanks Jen. I’m reporting live from Washington D.C. Late me is the Washington Mall. At 10:17 A.M this morning, the city was just settling down to work. There were a few tourists here on the mall. It was impartial an ordinary day. Then, the ship behind me impartial appeared out of thin air. It’s the most amazing thing that this reporter or any other human being has ever seen. Crowds have gathered but they have moved to a safe distance away from the ship. No one knows what to expect. Everyone agrees on one thing. This is a story that they will tell their grandchildren.”

“When the ship first appeared, there were quite a few people that ran in terror. The president called for order. He talked to the leaders of each country in the world. I think that it’s well-behaved to say that the world is watching.”

“Initially people were running this way and that way. Most people were trying to get as far away from the starship as possible. Quite a few stayed when there were no further movements from the ship.”

“The military has quickly taken over from the police. This is obviously an international plot. Other countries have offered whatever assistance is needed. The President has been very gracious and has acknowledged all offers.”

“We have talked to members of the military off the record. Almost unanimously they were cautious. The military immediately cordoned off the ship with ropes and armed guards. Later, there were more troops and troop carriers. Finally, the tanks appeared and surrounded the great ship. We are told, on good authority, that fighter planes have been scrambled and are constantly circling the area.”

“This reporter has been told that some of the planes even have active tactical nuclear devices on board should the situation get out of hand.”

“That’s the situation here at the Washington mall on Monday evening. If there are any further developments, we will smash into the current television schedule. Back to you Jen.”

Raymond was in hypersleep. He didn’t even know that the ship had landed on a planet.

Robert was also in hypersleep. At least he knew that the ship landed on a planet. The computer woke him up based on a prearranged condition. Robert had asked the computer to retain him appraised of the situation. He went right relieve into hypersleep.

Earth – 24 hours:
The police were trying to maintain order in the city of Washington. The military was in charge and the police weren’t happy. Every time something big happens, the police fetch brushed aside.

It was now Tuesday morning and little had changed from yesterday. The military was still on alert. The great ship had not moved. The infrared analysis had shown that the ship had cooled to the atmospheric temperature.

There has been no movement near the ship. The ship was under constant surveillance. It was exactly where it was when it landed twenty-four hours ago. If it had moved a single millimeter, sensors would have been sounded. It hadn’t moved.

Scientists were brought in from all over the world. They analyzed the ship every way that they could imagine. They couldn’t even get a sample to test. Acetylene torches had no affect on the ship’s hull. Diamond drills also had no affect. They brought in the biggest research lasers that they could find. It wasn’t honest that these methods failed. The worst of it was that there was no indication that they had done anything at all.

The next day there was a meeting. Well there were a lot of meetings. All ideas were considered. In the end, they realized that there was nothing to do.

The military had taken control of the entire area around the ship. People had been moved serve well gradual the baracades. No one was taking any chances.

Raymond slowly opened his eyes. The light was so bright that he moved suddenly. Ow!!! His head distress so bad he could barely move. He got up to go to the bathroom.

How long had he been out. He looked at the ship’s chronometer. He’d been in hyper sleep for a long time. Then he noticed that the artificial gravity was off. They must have landed on a planet.

“Hey Robert! We’ve landed on a planet.”

“Robert!!!”

“Robert wasn’t captivating at all.”

Raymond spoke to the computer.

“Figure out how to open the door lock. Don’t wake me unless it’s indispensable. I’m going back to sleep.”

Earth – 48 hours:
Communications experts were sent in to try to communicate with the ship and whoever is inside. Unruffled nothing. Two days had passed. The flow was slower now. SInce there was no activity from the ship people didn’t feel that it was such an emergency any more.

Raymond was still in hypersleep. The ship’s computer was still working on how to unlock the door.

Robert was collected in hypersleep.

Earth – 72 hours:
Authorities didn’t know what to do. There has been no response from the ship for three days. No noise. No appearance of life at all.

“They either can’t respond or they won’t acknowledge. Maybe it’s a drone probe of some sort.”

Raymond Was still in hypersleep. The computer was still working on door lock problem.

Robert was still in hypersleep.

Earth – one week:
Still nothing from the starship. A week had passed.

“By now all of you know the story. The ship materialized out of thin air. Nothing has happened since then. There have been no signs of life. There hasn’t even been a sound. A lot of people have speculated on this. Maybe it was a crash landing. Maybe it is unbiased some sort of unmanned probe. What is clear is that it’s not from earth. Every nation on has confirmed the fact that it is not there’s. They would like to know whose it is.”

Raymond was still in hypersleep.

Robert was still in hypersleep.

Earth – one month:
No sign of life from the starship. One month has gone by and the ship is still in the same place. To the best of our knowledge it hasn’t moved an inch. There has been no sound. Everyone that I’ve talked to says the same thing now. Everyone thinks that the ship is not from earth. Some of the best metallurgical people on the planet have been working on it. No one has even made a scratch on it. Some have suggested using a nuclear bomb on it but that idea was scrapped. You’d have to blow up Washington and no one wants to do that. Well, almost no one.

Raymond was still in hypersleep.

Robert was peaceful in hypersleep.

Earth – one year:
No sign from the starship. This is the one year anniversary of the appearance of the starship. Some people are calling it the empty ship. No life has appeared. No sound has been recorded. There are only two remaining theories. One theory says that it’s an unmanned drone or probe of some kind. The other theory says that the ship effectively crash landed here.

The craft appeared to be completely inert.

The ship’s computer had finally, randomly, hit on the honest combination to launch the door. The computer sets an alarm for Raymond.

The computer sent a message to Raymond.

Raymond, this is your wake up call. I broke the lock. The exterior door security system has been released. You may leave at your discretion.”

There was no response from Raymond.

Robert was still in hypersleep.

Earth – day 368:
A news bulletin has just been delivered. Something has happened at the starship. Around 4:15 AM sensors report that the ship changed somehow. Our best guess right now is that a door opened and some creature left the ship. We’re trying to enhance our video and we should have more on this later.

This just arrived. We have received more information. Another incident has occurred at the starship. A door appears to have been opened again. Another creature has left the ship. Both creatures moved quickly and we have been unable to tell where they went. They are currently at tremendous in the city. I repeat, two star creatures are at large in the city of Washington. We do not know if they are armed. We do not know if they are unsafe. All that we know is that they possess technology that is far beyond anything that earth has ever seen. Anyone that has information is asked to contact the authorities immediately.
